Sequence Mode

Applies to Apple TV Updated 2 min read

Sequence Mode automatically rotates through cameras, grid layouts, the Site Map, and the Events tab on a timer — like a security operations center display.

Starting Sequence Mode

You can start Sequence Mode from:

  • Settings > Sequence > Start Sequence
  • The Sequence button in the Live tab header.

Press any button on the Siri Remote to stop the sequence and return to normal navigation.

Configuration

Configure Sequence Mode in Settings > Sequence:

Mode

  • Auto — Automatically generates a sequence from your current cameras and views. Best for most users.
  • Custom — Define exactly which views appear and in what order.

Step Duration

Set how long each view stays on screen before advancing: 5 to 30 seconds per step.

Views to Include

Choose which presentations appear in the rotation:

  • Single camera views — Full-screen view of each camera (all cameras, or select specific ones).
  • Grid layouts — 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 multi-camera grids.
  • Site Map — Your spatial camera layout with live event indicators.
  • Events — The Events tab showing recent activity.

Ambient Mode

Ambient Mode is a companion feature that automatically starts Sequence Mode after your Apple TV has been idle for a set period. Configure it in Settings > System > Ambient Mode:

  • Enable / Disable — Turn Ambient Mode on or off.
  • Idle Timeout — Set the idle period before auto-start (1 to 60 minutes).

When Ambient Mode activates, any interaction with the Siri Remote dismisses the sequence and returns to normal app navigation. This is ideal for always-on monitoring displays — your Apple TV becomes a self-running security dashboard.
