Living Tiles

Applies to Apple TV Updated 1 min read

Living Tiles bring your camera grid to life by automatically switching camera thumbnails to live video when smart events are detected.

How It Works

When a camera detects an event (motion, person, vehicle, etc.), its grid tile temporarily switches from a static snapshot to a live sub-stream video feed. This gives you immediate visual confirmation of what triggered the event — without opening the camera.

When the event ends, the tile automatically reverts to a static thumbnail.

Configuring Living Tiles

You can control Living Tiles behavior in Settings > Alerts:

  • Enable / Disable — Turn Living Tiles on or off globally.
  • Minimum Priority — Choose which event severity triggers a Living Tile:
  • All — Any event activates a tile.
  • Medium and above — Only medium and high-priority events.
  • High only — Only the most significant events (e.g., person detected, doorbell ring).

Performance

The app limits the number of simultaneous Living Tiles to ensure smooth performance. Up to 16 cameras can display live sub-streams at the same time. If more events occur simultaneously, the most recent events take priority.

Where Living Tiles Appear

Living Tiles are active on the Live grid tab. Camera tiles on the Home tab rails also reflect active events with visual indicators.
