IC Scout device list in Demo Mode, showing simulated cameras and a recorder with Needs Setup and Ready badges

IC Scout is the phone version of the desktop ConfigTool. It finds IC Realtime cameras, doorstations and recorders on the local network, sets passwords on factory-fresh units, configures them, and produces the paperwork for the job. It is built for installers standing in the building, not for end customers.

What you need

  • An iPhone. IC Scout is iPhone-only by design. There is no iPad layout.
  • iOS 16 or later.
  • The same network as the devices. Scout finds devices by broadcasting on the local subnet. Join the site's Wi-Fi, on the same VLAN the cameras are on. A phone on cellular, or on a guest network isolated from the camera VLAN, will find nothing.

What IC Scout does

  • Discovers devices on the local network
  • Sets the admin password on uninitialized devices, one at a time or in bulk
  • Sets channel titles, time and NTP
  • Captures snapshots and shows a live camera view
  • Saves a scan as a named site so you can come back to the job
  • Stores installation photos against each device
  • Exports a CSV deployment manifest and a branded PDF install report

What it does not do

  • It is not a viewing app for the end customer. For live and recorded viewing, customers use IC View or the product's own app.
  • It does not configure anything over the internet. Everything happens on the local network, in the building.
  • It does not recover a device whose password you do not know. That is a factory reset at the hardware.

Practise first, without hardware

Scout has a Demo Mode with five simulated devices and two sample jobs. Every screen works, and tutorial tips explain each step as you go. Use it to learn the flow before you are on a ladder with a customer watching.

Demo Mode is also the fastest way for a new technician to see what the app does on their first day.
