Setting Up Alerts During Specific Hours on Our Mobile App (without ICView+ period settings)

Applies to IC View+ Updated 3 min read

Introduction

This guide is designed to assist you in configuring your surveillance system to send alerts only during certain hours, while also ensuring continuous recording. This is especially helpful if your app doesn't support alerts for specific time periods, or if your devices are limited to a single time period setting.

If you have an elite series recorder or a newer recorder that can use period settings for push notifications in ICView+, you can use this guide instead for setup purposes.

Disclaimer: This help article may not show the same user interface you are working with. If you do need to find where to setup the motion detection period setting, it is normally under an area called event, motion detection, or video detection tabs. If you need to find IVS rules period setting, they are generally under the event, alert configuration, or intelligence tabs.

Scenario

Consider a business that wants to receive push mobile alerts only during its closed hours (outside of 8 AM to 6 PM) but prefers no alerts during operational hours. Continuous recording is still required throughout the day.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Utilize Intelligent Motion Detection (iMD) During Operational Hours

  • Objective: Enable continuous recording with iMD alerts during business hours.
  • Configuration: Set iMD to be active from 8:00:00 to 18:00:00 (6 PM). This allows for recording all activities and generating alerts only within these hours.

Step 2: Employ Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) Rules During Closed Hours

  • Objective: Configure alerts for non-operational hours.
  • Configuration:
    • Period 1: Set IVS rules to be active from Midnight (00:00:00) to 7:59:59.
    • Period 2: Set them to activate from 18:00:00 (6 PM) to Midnight (23:59:59).
  • Note: Apply this setup to each IVS rule individually.

Step 3: Repeat for Each IVS Rule

  • Implementation: Make sure this time-specific setup is replicated across all IVS rules or channels as needed.

Step 4: Subscribe to IVS Rules on the Mobile App

  • Action: In your mobile app, subscribe to receive push notifications for IVS rules only.
  • Purpose: By subscribing exclusively to IVS rules, you will receive alerts only during the closed hours (as configured in Step 2), effectively filtering out alerts during operational hours.
  • Note: Do not subscribe to iMD alerts to avoid receiving notifications during business hours.

Conclusion

Following these steps ensures that your surveillance system sends alerts only during your specified time windows: from Midnight to 8 AM and from 6 PM to Midnight. This setup allows you to receive essential push mobile alerts during your closed hours while maintaining continuous recording during operational hours. It's a tailored approach to meet your specific alerting needs, ensuring efficiency and relevance in your surveillance system.
